Stop exploiting Veteran's Day by spamming people with your shit music while you support elected officials that don't give a damn about anyone else, let alone folks who serve in uniform.
For fucksake, I am so tired of conservatives commercializing veterans and selling their star-spangled tchotchkes and flag-draped, third-tier bullshit anthems. And no one ever calls them out on it. You don't care about veterans. You care about your own damn egos.
Alright, I'm going all-in. With few exceptions, conservative politicians are goddamn hypocrites when it comes to honoring members of the military. Like everything else they claim to "own"--Christianity, family values, etc--it's all about the gift wrap and never what's in the box.
Trump lied during the campaign about donating to military organizations. He cowardly evaded the draft during Vietnam. He has mocked the military service of no less than John McCain, who was a POW for five and a half years. And Republicans? Largely silent on all this.
Conservatives, by and large, don't give a shit about patriotism. They only care about being right and whether or not you agree with them. Patriotism is an allegiance to our Constitutional values. That's all it is. They don't give a shit about the Constitution.
Conservatives, generally, operate on fear of race, gender, sexuality, religion--whatever falls under the Other--and tie it to this bastardized view of American "patriotism" that centers white Christian men as the "heroic" leads. They prioritize their discomfort over true freedom.
And then they have the fucking gall to nominate a draft-dodging, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic coward who blatantly dishonors actual veterans, service members who have died in action, and their families. Where is their fucking "patriotism" in regards to Trump? Where?
But sure, @GOP, wave your fucking American flags while you cower in your D.C. offices because you lack the sheer gumption to stand up for what's right against this moron. Sing a patriotic tune. Hang up your yellow ribbon. You callow, exploitative shitbags.
Okay, that felt good to get out. I feel better.
