This morning, I am hosting a debate in Parliament about migration and the effect on
the economy parliamentlive.tv/Event/Index/0a…

Migration can be good for Britain if it makes us all richer – not just
those that have come here to work

It helps the public finances and the budget deficit but only if those
coming have sufficient skills & earn a large enough salary

Post-Brexit, the starting point should be to treat EU nationals the same
as non-EU nationals

An immigration policy based on skills and contribution to the UK, not on
where people are from

This will also make a big difference as we seek to strike trade deals
with countries around the world

Britain should always be open to the best & brightest people from
around the world, who want to come here to work and create businesses

With the right rules in place, we can ensure that targeted migration
make us all better off – the new migrants and the rest of the economy

That will command widespread support from the British people, and
contribute to a genuinely global Britain that is open for business
