full iron studies
reticulocyte count
blood film (with sufficient clinical information)
haemolysis screen
myeloma screen

Sickle cell patients tolerate low hbs v well, and hb >100 can cause hyperviscosity and stroke. Do not transfuse unless haematology say its ok! Risk of alloimmunisation is high #BSHTIP
