Just received the transcript for the May 9, 2018 hearing in the Special Counsel's Russian Troll case.

A few observations on this short hearing.

First, the Court goes over the purpose of the hearing:

to conduct an initial appearance and arraignment of defendant Concord Management and Consulting, LLC

The Judge brings up Concord Catering, saying the gov't alleges an association with Concord Mgmt.

Attorney for Concord Mgmt:

The gov't has "indicted the proverbial ham sandwich."

"That company didn't exist as a legal entity during the time period alleged by the gov't."

THe Judge goes through the typical arraignment process, asking if Concord
Mgmt understands it has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the US.

He also notes the potential $500K+ fine. No jail time for Concord.

Special Counsel could be embarrassed over such small stakes.

Special Counsel Rhee gets up, saying the gov't understands that
Concord Mgmt's attorney was also to represent Concord Catering

Judge: "What would you me to do with that here today?" He says he's not
authorized to represent them

Rhee: Ok, we'll serve them with summons

Judge goes back to the lawyer for Concord.

Lawyer: "We know that the special counsel apparently has access to our confidential filings at the Office of Foreign Assets control, which in and of itself is a disturbing fact."

Done w/ the formalities, Concord's lawyer waives the reading of the indictment and enters a plea of not guilty.

"We exercise our right to a speedy trial."
