BREAKING: 7th Circuit hands Jeff Sessions a win by staying most of an order that had blocked the DOJ from withholding millions in police funds from sanctuary jurisdictions.

Now the district court’s preliminary injunction only applies to Chicago.

Sessions has withheld $254 million from police forces nationwide (since last Oct.) while this case is litigated.

It’s unclear if DOJ will now disperse the money to non-sanctuary cities, while withholding the $$ from sanctuary jurisdictions.
Here’s a background thread on the lawsuit from Chicago against Sessions/DOJ over sanctuary cities, what’s been happening in court —>
I’ve asked DOJ if they plan to disperse the funs not to non-sanctuary jurisdictions — and separately asked Chicago if they will ask SCOTUS to lift the stay.
JUST IN: Justice Department says it will disperse police grants to “cooperating jurisdictions” in “expeditious manner” now that 7th Circuit ordered in favor of Jeff Sessions and against sanctuary cities.
The question now — if DOJ gives out the police grants to all the nonsanctuary jurisdictions, will they actually give it out to Chicago too — considering Chicago is, as they put it, not a “cooperating jurisdiction”?
