First reaction: Oh, FUCK.

Second reaction: I want all of you to take a deep breath. This proves exactly what I've been saying all along; we need to defend the Senate.
Here's what I need all of you to do at this moment.

1. Read my thread from yesterday.
2. In NO uncertain terms, understand that I keep tweeting about the need to defend the Senate, because the Senate votes for SCOTUS nominees.

The more Democrat Senators we have, the more they can vote AGAINST conservative nominees to SCOTUS. Understand?…
3. Which is why, I need EVERY single one of you to understand:

We need to defend EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Senate Dems up for reelection this cycle, even the ones you don't like. We need them to block the next confirmation vote.
(And before you @ me and start complaining about Donnelly/Manchin/Heitkamp, I DON'T CARE.

If we want to put it down to pure ideology and numbers, the odds of them being persuaded to vote against a conservative nominee is a lot better than a GOP senator.)
4. Concurrently, we need to turn the hell out and volunteer for Democratic challengers like @PhilBredesen @kyrstensinema @BetoORourke.

Do not. DO NOT assume that because they have a good online presence, they will win. Online presence doesn't translate to good ground game.
If you live in those states, show up and volunteer. Phone bank. Canvass. Stuff canvass packets. A good ground game is the key to winning.

If you don't live in those states, donate and get others to donate. See if you can digitally phone bank.
5. Your job for today:

a. Look at the Dems in Senate Class 1. They're all up. KNOW their names.…

b. Pick two of the Dems from this list @Roadto18 has aggregated, and commit to helping them every week from now until November..
c. Know their voting record, know their social accounts, know their stances.

Reach out to their campaigns, and ask how you can help. Commit to doing x hours a week and donating Y amount until election day. They will be your new BFFs, even if they don't represent you.
d. When people complain about how moderate some of them are? It's your job to shut down that conversation, and remind them - SCOTUS. They are the remaining firewall against SCOTUS.

It's your job to remind them them, a GOP Senator will support that SCOTUS nominee for sure.
e. And it's also going to be your job to get five friends/family/colleagues to do the same.

I don't care if you have to nag/bribe/use whatever sibling powers, to make it happen. Get them to pick two senators to adopt, as well. We're going to know these Senators like family.
f. And once you're done with all of that?

Pick from one of the Senate Dem challengers running. I'm picking @PhilBredesen. You're going to do the exact same thing with them. You and I will do everything in our individual power, to help them flip those seats.
We're at a critical 49/51 (Dems/GOP) balance of power right now.

Up until this point, I've said: "IF we flip two", we can retake the Senate and have a needed counter to Trump. But now, I'm changing the plan. We have to AT LEAST flip two seats now. At LEAST.
Because even if Trump's next justice makes it onto the court, we'll have a Senate firewall to defend against the worst. We need it.

I think if you've followed me long enough, you'll know I'm the first to counter unnecessary worry and explain the logistics of the system.
Be worried. This is critical, and I need all of you to stay laser-focused on doing everything I just said, and getting others to do the same.

None of us can remotely afford to check out right now, since Justice Kennedy just changed the god damn ball game.
g. If you have a big platform, e.g. the type people will listen to, do what you can to speak out.

Use your platform, and lend your platform to those Senators I've listed. Phone bank with Senators and make it into a photo op. Get fans to come. Fans = volunteers.
To recap:

1. Study the list of Senators and pick the two you're going to support.
2. Every time you find yourself wrinkling your nose at something they've done, I just want you to think of a SCOTUS with another Trump-picked justice.
3. Get at LEAST 5 others to do the same.
