Ok, I’m usually fairly cheerful, or at least practical action oriented on here, but I gotta say..
In 2003, the arctic ice sheet cracked in two, monsoons didn’t come to India, and it hailed in LA in the summer, and those are just the few highlights I remember.

2001 is when we really needed all the people out in the streets
(we still need that today of course #FamiliesBelongTogether)

2001 is when we lost the democracy we’d squandered for years.

Florida. Supreme Court. Nepotism. Don’t @ me.

So yeah, of course we have massive ecological and political news these days, and we need all the #Resistance we can get. But stop being surprised.

Shock can be moved through or clung to. Catch up. We need you.

And we need more than the latest breaking news keeping us aghast.
We need coordination and support for those building the new. In towns, in politics, in macroeconomics, in brave conversations and practical survival.

Find out what mutual aid or local economies or new education networks are striving near you, and foster those.
Pay attention to who and what’s directing your attention, and maybe check the alignment with what you’d like your legacy to be.

Because the attention economy (aka #SurveillanceCapitalism) is not only squandering our lives, but what trails we leave those we love when we die.
Yes, the world is in chaos and yes we’re all gonna die, but that’s just how it is. Life’s deal. Just a bit more bleak and in our faces than usual these days. Good things are also happening.
The thing is, IMHO, if we get stuck in the shock, panic, anger, exhaustion-till-the-next-shock cycle, and don’t throw what weight we can behind all the diverse heartmindshandsbodies doing this urgent work of realignment, creation, pattern recognition and sensemaking, if not, then
Who will?
