The following data relies heavily on the work of the blogger at "Her Majesty's Jewel Box". If you swing by there (I will be linking), BE ADVISED THE BLOGGER WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS POLITICAL STUFF THAT IS NOT WHY SHE IS THERE so take it easy.
All right. You need ninety-two years of background. The Queen (hereafter QE) has always loved brooches and so everyone gives them to her as gifts. Everyone. A horse-racing org gave her a gift for lifetime achievements a while back - the 'trophy' was a brooch. You get it.
QE also does hundreds and hundreds of appearances, and maybe 95% or higher, she wears a brooch. And the brooch is ALWAYS significant. Badges of military regiments - she inspects some troops, she wears the badge of them to do it.
A head of state gives her a brooch? If they visit, she'll wear it or something else she'd been given by them as a gift. (This goes for other kinds of jewelry too.) To her it's almost like royal orders.
That said, she wore three brooches while she and tRUmp were both in town. The day he arrived, the day of the banquet, and the day she actually met him for tea. (BTW, he let her wait 12min for him to show up for tea. He showed up late to tea WITH THE QUEEN OF FUCKING ENGLAND.)
Arrival day was the one that got the most attention. That day, she wore the brooch the Obamas gave her on their last visit to England. queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/2013/08/flashb…
That by itself is amusing enough. She wore a brooch the Obamas gave her. But it gets better. It's not AN American brooch, any would be funny. She chose THIS ONE. This one was purchased out-of-pocket by Michelle and Barack Obama and given to her as a personal gift.
And since the Obamas are Really Good At This Subtle Thing too, they chose a very modest pin made of very modest materials. The message is "Here is a gift of something you like, with only sentimental value because it's for friendship not state visits."
The US has given QE jewelry before over the years and I bet her dresser could put hands on any and all of it given five minutes. But she chose the most SENTIMENTAL piece in the collection, the one that was given OUT OF FRIENDSHIP WITH THE OBAMAS AS PEOPLE.
Yes indeed.
Next day, next brooch. This was a day of audiences with people, she does that to maintain the Commonwealth at least one day a week. That day was the King and Queen of Belgium for tea as well. She wore a sapphire brooch.
queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/2017/07/the-sa…
It's called the Sapphire Jubillee Brooch, and it was given to the Queen of England as a gift for ruling for eleventy billion (okay, 65). From Canada. You know, who Trump's been screaming about and insulting. The commonwealth country and one of the UK's greatest allies. Them.
It contains over ten carats of sapphires in several shades of blue, and is just stunning.
Nice way to get in a dig again without having to say a word.
And for the day of the tea, QE wore an innocuous 'nice but not holy shit, considering what's in the vaults' diamond brooch she inherited from her mother.
Jewel watchers nearly died, because it is the brooch worn in the famous "Three Queens in Mourning" photo, worn by the Queen Mum:
QE rolled up to tea with the tRUmps wearing the brooch her mother wore to her father's STATE FUNERAL.
Game, set, and match to Queen Elizabeth. Gods save the Queen, or she'll kick their asses too.
Adding more data from a friend, about QE's outfit.

The suit she wore to tea is the exact same one she wore to open Parliament after the post-Brexit reorganization. "I think this is now her Official Outfit of Don't Wanna."
ALL RIGHT! Sheesh, y'all are impatient.

Forty years ago, one of QE's cousins married a woman, now known as Princess Michael of Kent. She is notoriously racist. Going to the first Christmas lunch with the family where she would be meeting Megan Markle, she wore this:
Fuck, picture. Pictures are good.
If you google "Princess Michael of Kent brooch" you get THAT photo, in a Harper's article about it. The incident is notorious in a very small corner of jewel-watching territory.
In the 17-1800s, British Empire types like to have art made of their 'subjects'. That's called a Blackamoor Brooch and it is the jewelry equivalent to one of those statues of a little black boy holding a lantern people put at the end of their drives.
To meet Megan Markle.

Who was engaged to Harry at the time.
She insists it was all a HUGE misunderstanding and she had NO IDEA that a pin called a BLACKAMOOR BROOCH was in bad taste.

But then a guy who dated her daughter says she has two black sheep on her estate she named Venus and Serena, so you be the judge.
We were all hoping for a Serena - Princess Michael throwdown at the wedding reception, but it turned out Serena has too much class to beat the shit out of little old white ladies, even when they deserve it. (There's no incident I know of other than them being in the same room.)
A good friend has also informed me that Princess Michael of Kent's father was a major in the Nazi SS.

Her husband also does lots of business in Russia. Which could mean nothing.
AND SINCE I'M ADDING ON ANYWAY, @jadewhisk pointed something out:

You know, that Canadian brooch of Elizabeth's could be considered a SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE.
If QE knew the snowflake term, it's absolutely why this brooch was chosen. It's never been worn before and she has always before this worn a diamond maple leaf given to her as a young woman by the people of Canada.
Ooops, my bad. No. It was given to the Queen Mum for a tour of Canada in the thirties. Given by the King. So it's a gift between QE's beloved parents.
Since then, it's been THE "Hi Canada!" brooch:
I can't possibly begin to guess what the Queen was thinking, but the facts as I know them are thus:
1. QE has a brooch very heavily associated with Canada to the point it really is a signal flag.
2. She did not wear it.
3. She wore a jewel that she had never worn before.
4. That in the shape of a snowflake, sorta.
5. That was referred to as a snowflake somewhere in the press release about it.
6. QE has amply proven she is a master of brooch warfare.
It has also occurred to me that of the three brooches, two were gifts from heads of major states and the third belonged to her mother, whom Hitler called "the most dangerous woman in Europe" because of how she rallied the people during the Blitz.
ADDED ON 7.16.18:

More stuff I forgot people don't 'just know'.

The snowflake brooch was new, never before worn. A gift from Canada. QE usually saves that sort of thing for when lots of people will see it. Esp. a gift from a Commonwealth country. From CANADA.
Unlike most royal families' jewelry trusts, in the UK, you need QE's permission to wear any of the stuff in the vault. No one knows if she will offer things or if Camilla and Kate (most usually) put in requests. Probably a little of both.
But whenever any jewelry of any significance - including the tiaras both Kate and Meghan wore - is worn, know that QE gave express permission for it, either for that occasion or as a long term loan.
And to officially close out the thread on a happier note than PMoK and her racist brooch, here's the brooches QE wore to Wils and Harry's weddings:
By now you've realized that QE was VERY close to her mother and grandmother and those three women held the UK together for 150 years. All three are considered to have had happy marriages, though cut short by early deaths for Mary and Elizabeth the Queen Mum.
For Will and Kate's wedding, she wore a bow brooch.
It was originally purchased by her grandmother, and QE inherited it when Mary passed away in the 50s.
The bow is called a 'love knot' in European symbolism, and bows are used in heraldry to indicate a marriage. It is most often seen holding poppy brooches for Remembrance Day.

QE wore an old family piece that symbolizes love and marriage, and a relative she loves.
For jewel watchers, QE showed up in the Lover's Knot Brooch and we all went "AW."

So when Harry and Meghan rolled around, we were, well. Rather curious. (Bets may have been placed, but it's hard to get a good pool going because the woman owns thousands of brooches.)
(Also jewel watchers are much more likely to bet on tiaras.)
My apologies for the lag, the power went out. ??
QE wore The Richmond Brooch to Harry and Meghan's wedding:
It was originally a WEDDING GIFT from the town of Richmond to her grandmother, Mary.
This one, I'm missing something. I'm American, I miss a lot of details and I KNOW I'm missing something. Limeys, is there any kind of link between the Sussexes and Richmond?
But, at any rate, QE likes to wear old family pieces to weddings. And that is significant because she owns a LOT of modern things that have been given to her during her own Really Long reign.
QE has loaned pieces to Kate, some permanently, some for a single event, but all pieces that have been in the family a LONG time, and I suspect she's pushing Kate to wear more glitter than Kate would normally go for.
But among other pieces, Kate's been loaned several of the Queen Mum's favorite tiaras, the Lover's Knot tiara associated with Diana (it seems like it might become Kate's go-to), and a bracelet that Phillip gave to QE herself.
So far QE's only loaned Meghan's wedding tiara to her (from Queen Mary) but I expect more of what Kate's seen: Classic, old family pieces. There will probably be significance to them. I'll keep an eye out.
And, we'll officially end it now, on a happier note. Thanks for reading. Have a quokka.
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! I think I figured out the Harry and Meghan wedding brooch. There is a Richmond in Sussex, which is how the new couple is styled - the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
