A rare clip of Teboho "Tsietsi" Macdonald Mashinini, the Student Leader of the 1976 Soweto Uprising.

The apartheid government imposed Afrikaans as a compulsory teaching language in native African schools. Irate by that, est. 20000 students hit the streets, with hundreds killed.
The life of Teboho "Tsietsi" Macdonald Mashinini, by The Sowetan.

[Video continues below.] ImageImageImageImage
Teboho Mashinini was South Africa's most wanted man at this time; interviewed in hiding by reporter John Fielding in September 1976 on the June Uprising.

He gave close-up gory details on the massacre that followed, disputing official accounts on the number of students killed.
There is no question that the Soweto Uprising galvanized the anti-apartheid movement, emboldened the ANC, and it was never quiet until Mandela was released and apartheid was scrapped.
Teboho Mashinini, being hunted by the government, escaped, traveling to Botswana, Nigeria, Liberia—got married to Miss Liberia 1977— and Guinea staying at Miriam Makeba's home to continue his activism.

He died under mysterious circumstances in 1990 at Guinea, possibly homicide. ImageImageImageImage
Monuments in his name. ImageImageImageImage

The last hour of the late, great Patrice Lumumba, Prime Minister of the Dem. Rep. of Congo, before he was killed in 1961.

He was tied to a tree, shot by a firing squad, buried, exhumed, reburied again, exhumed, hacked into pieces then dissolved in sulphuric acid.

The details
The man who dissolved Patrice Lumumba in sulphuric acid, Belgian Police Commissioner Gerard Soete, confirmed that he did the act to AFP on 15th May, 2002.

He even kept relics or souvenir, two of Lumumba's teeth, fingers, bullets lodged in his body.
This was Lumumba when he was captured by officers loyal to Mobutu, who he made the chief of army staff, before he was flown down to the Katanga province to meet his death by the Belgians.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo never remained the same afterwards.

You want to know why Haiti, a nation of over 97% descendants of Africa is now a metaphor for poverty and disaster?

Read this.

(Excerpts from the Guardian UK)
This is the Treaty the US forced on a sovereign, independent nation (Haiti), solely for the purpose of benefiting US businesses as they couldn't stand the thought of having Haiti interfere with foreign interests.
