Amusing to see people who are not able to understand collective constraints so eager to go to Mars where life might end up being stuck into small underground bunkers with several other folks and not much private space...
Actually, creating a « boring company » makes a lot of sense for whoever wants to establish a human settlement on the red planet.
Why undergroud facilities?
Unless there is a meaningful atmosphere, it will be the best protection against cosmic radiations and random meteorits.
As a side benefit, it will be also eathier to seal for pressurisation purposes, and will lower the influence of the temperature variation.
Let’s not be too harsh with dreams, but difficult to imagine how this early human life on Mars may last without strong industrial support coming from Earth.
So it may be wise to keep a functioning planet here, before jumping in the next « escape vessel to the stars » :-)
