A thread for those who think of me as an uncle Tom, a coon, or are just simply curious as to why I speak in defence of white people so much.
I was born to two second generation Jamaican parents. Grew up on a council estate in Harpurhey, Manchester, an area that is both poor and overwhelmingly inhabited by white people.
My mother worked in several shops. My father was a taxi driver. Like everyone else in my area, we didn't have a lot of money.
I went to a school that was mostly white. So from a young age I was surrounded by white people. They weren't just this force of evil that I would hear about from black siblings. They were people who I interacted with on a day to day basis.
And guess what? They treated me and my family no differently to their fellow white people (had to throw that phrase in, ha!)

At the end of the day, we were all poor people. That kind of solidarity transcends race.
Now, I have being a victim of racism. I've been called a black cunt by a white guy shouting out of a car window just for stepping out in the road. I've been called a nigger by some random lone drunk white dude.
And, I've also been jumped by a gang of Asian lads walking home, and called names based on my skin colour.

But, these are the actions of horrible individuals, and they don't represent their entire race.
Now, fast forward into the mid-to-late 2010s. Identity politics is trendy. Everywhere you go on social media, you see "white people this", "privilege that", et cetera. It's now cool to bash white people for anything they do. Seriously, they can't do right without doing wrong.
So many times I've read articles by privileged, middle/upper class university graduates, trying to say that every white person is out to get me. That they're inherently racist.

So, my old friends, from the council estate, from the school, have secretly hated me all these years.
So many times I've seen white lefties try and decide what I, as a black person, should find offensive, and use it as a stick to beat other white people with, to show us that they're one of the good ones.
These people who push the "white privilege" narrative have no idea about the struggle that my friends and their families had to endure. It's easy to talk about having privilege when you're from a nice suburban background, and your parents have comfortably provided for you.
And don't get me started on the "you can't be racist to white people, racism is about power!" bullshit. You're just trying to justify your own bigotry and try and scramble for some kind of moral high ground, despite the fact that, well, you are a racist.
They speak about as if white people are immune to any form of societal injustice. I've had a fair few white friends harassed by police just for walking the street at night. Sure, it wasn't because of their skin colour, but where was their white privilege to fend off the police?
Also, their bigotry of low expectations. They essentially say that we'll never amount to anything in society unless they hold our hands, because the white man will always be out to get us.
I went to University, then did an MA and now I'm in a job where I earn a comfortable enough amount of money. The fuck do you account for that?
I just find it incredibly rich seeing people who are employed in media and academia, who earn a shitload of money, lecturing poor, working class people about the advantages and power and privilege that they have.
I find it rich seeing people who talk about diversity and multiculturalism and how we need to embrace other cultures, then publicly shame teenage girls for wearing dreads because it's "cultural appropriation."
Basically, I'm just sick of good, honest, innocent people being attacked by deluded snowflakes just to enable their social media clout, to look good, to look virtuous, to look woke.
So, to summarise. I grew up around poor white people and I know that white people are mostly good folks. If you think it's acceptable to tar the good ones with a brush, calling them inherently racist, you're a fucking toxic person.
Anyway, I'm off for a few beers with my white friends. Are they going to oppress me, and impose their whiteness on me?

Or are we just going to, undoubtedly, debate football?

So yeah, fuck social justice warriors. Fuck the alt right, of course, white supremacists are a whole other subject, but still, fuck social justice warriors.

Most white people aren't racist. Not all white people have privilege. Facts. End of discussion. Goodnight!
