Conspiracy theorists sincerely believe they are smarter than common people, which is the only funny thing about conspiracy theorists.
The more you wager your identity and intelligence on a conspiracy, the harder it is to abandon it. Anyone who refutes the conspiracy is part of the conspiracy, which cordons you off from considering contrary evidence.
Conspiracy theorists I’ve know have all been people who felt their superior intellect was not recognized by employers, family, lovers, or other sheeple. Their financial and social circumstances didn’t correlate with their self-image.
