Red Action were mad, bad and dangerous to know in the 1990s (especially to the fascists they chased around the country). They regarded the Jeremy Corbyn's of this world as little more than beardie university lecturers, of little use and only occasional ornament.
Jeremy Corbyn and Red Action did (do?) share a mutual support for Irish Republicanism. That has been part of the British left since the days of Marx & Engels. It may be part of the reason why the UK left has often failed to get the support of the working class it feels it should.
Corbyn's support for a succession of Republican groups, in a constituency where An Phoblacht was widely sold in the pubs and clubs on a Saturday night, was not seen as remarkable at the time. But then again, no one thought he would ever be Prime Minister.
What Corbyn is yet to articulate is a political vision that honestly positions his symapthy for what he would see as anti-colonial groups (the IRA, Hamas etc etc) and the needs and aspirations of the British people he wants to elect him Prine Minister.
It is very unlikely @jeremycorbyn can square that circle, hence the dishonest guff that he only met such groups to pursue peace or support the rights of prisoners. There seems to be no evidence of him meeting Loyalist front groups or pro-Israeli organsiations in his endeavours.
If that proves to be Corbyn's undoing - either at the next election or before - the irony will be that his failure will repeat the core historic failure of the British revolutionary left. To be more associated with peoples struggle overseas, than at home.....
