You don't want a debate. You want to lecture. You want one specific viewpoint to be the only proper one. Stop lying that you want a debate. You want advocacy. variety.com/2018/gaming/co…
Here is the thing, if you want advocacy then advocate for that. That is your right and go right ahead and do so. But this lying that oh we want a debate we want dialogue we want to raise awareness of the issue must stop. You want a certain outcome. Fine. Be honest.
So much of the rancor in today's political climate is because people on all sides refuse to state their positions honestly. There's no room for assuming the other side is arguing in good faith because people are not being forthright in stating positions.
Because of that, people try to read between the lines and assumptions of belief and intent are made. Some assumptions are true. Some are false. People rightly get angry at having false assumptions placed on them and respond accordingly and off we go.
If people were forthright in stating what they are advocating, then at least the arguments can proceed from an agreement as to what is being argued.
It is also a pet peeve of mine that people believe they need to mealy mouth what they want. I just want to have us all dialogue. No, you want people to adopt your view. Own it. Own your voice. Own your position. If you are unsure you can persuade, learn how to do so.
Just be honest. That is all I want. And this lamp. This lamp and that honesty. And this remote.
