Catholic Bishops have rejected a law that would compel them to report confessions of sex abuse of children heard in the confession box.
They say that it would interfere with religions freedoms. No shit!
It's almost as if abusing children sexually isn't really illegal if you are Catholic. Especially if you are a priest.
After reading this article about how the Catholic church deliberately covers up for abusive priests ( they even have a playbook on how to do this), I really struggle to understand how a right-thinking person would continue to associate with this institution.
The article links to other articles that I would encourage folk to read patheos.com/blogs/freethou…
It's not a stretch to say that anyone giving their time and resources to the Catholic Church is endorsing child abuse
If the Catholic church was a private school or a multinational, the calls to shut it down would be unanimous.
Tbh, it's crazy that children (who did not choose the religion) are the innocent victims here. Imagine choosing a religion for your child then teaching them how to not be abused by the leader of said religion 🤔🤔
Cancel the whole church pls.
These are Catholic bishops in Australia (to clarify)
This is probably the only case of sex abuse by a priest in .ke where the legal authorities intervened, and even then, a church member influenced the priest's release
Look at how Catholicism impairs rational thinking. Can you imagine thinking that the duty to report rape is the responsibility of detectives.
Catholics (who obviously haven't read the article I posted) in my mentions feeling the need to defend themselves to me. Hey! I don't care.
The fact that the Catholics who were offended by this thread think that religious rituals should be above the law is amazing. This is why I keep saying religion is harmful.
Some even equated a priest with a doctor 🤔🤔🤔
And this is one issue. There is a whole laundry list of crimes, from money laundering to corruption that the Catholic church leadership commits and actively covers up.
Then there's stuff like this that leaves you speechless.

Kellie, why are you blaming the worshippers?

Because the church is it's people. If the people cared enough, these cover ups wouldn't be happening.
If the people don't have the power to influence their church leadership, then why are they still giving time and resources to the church?
I like this thread.
All the defense of confession I have seen has failed to admit that this is a man-made ritual.
