@jess_therapist Not proof, of course, but how many fat smokers do you meet?
@jess_therapist and it's much harder to find this data, but consider also these two charts. Notice rise of obesity in south east asia compared to decline of smoking in south east asia. There are lots of confounders here. Rising income correlates with both of these things, and food abundance
