@jack Can I ask what views conservatives inside Twitter feel uncomfortable expressing?…
I ask because these conversations are often held in the abstract but since I have been writing some fact check replies to @realdonaldtrump I have come into contact with a large number of people with strong conservative views.
There are fiscal conservatives, there are people who are hawkish in foreign policy, there are people who think tariffs are a good or bad idea, there are people who would argue for lower taxes, and frankly if people at Twitter couldn’t argue those things, there’s a problem.
But then there are also a lot of people arguing that LGBT people are deviants, that women are not suited to software development and that non-white races are inferior.
And frankly, people at Twitter should *absolutely* feel uncomfortable expressing those opinions at work - only partly because if they didn’t they’d put the whole company at risk of law suits.
When you speak in the abstract you make it easy for people to fill in the gaps with what they believe. And frankly, there are a lot of people out there who will fill in those gaps by thinking you’re arguing they should be allowed to attack, harass, diminish and insult minorities
We need you to be *clear* in what you’re saying. We need you to own a position and stick to it. Twitter is *necessarily* opinionated. You can’t avoid it. You’re either on the side of people who want to harass others or you’re against it.
So are you actually saying it’s sad that right-wing people can’t express anti-LGBT, sexist or racist positions? Or are you saying that whatever you positions on many issues, Twitter has some basic, clear limits on some core fundamentals.
