Here's a thread about ways you can help folks affected by the flooding after the hurricane in North Carolina. First up: text FLORENCE to 20222 to donate to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund.
The Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC @FoodBankCENC accepts monetary donations online:…
The Food Bank also has a really cool online food drive where you can grocery shop for some of NC's hardest-hit counties…
You can donate to the @RedCross at the link below, AND you can help make up for the deficit in blood drives cancelled during Florence by giving blood. Your donation enters the national blood inventory and can be shipped all over the country if necessary!…
The fine folks at @DonorsChoose have a special fund set up for teachers whose classrooms were impacted in NC and beyond. As a former high school teacher and a former NC elementary school volunteer, I'm a big fan of this idea.…
Over at @FFTC_RCCL based in Charlotte, they've created a hurricane fund specifically for folks who need help…
The @WCKitchen was founded by @chefjoseandres in 2010. They're using a truck to deliver food to New Hanover, Columbus, Brunswick and Pender counties in North Carolina. The Chef Relief Team is currently serving 20K+ evacuees and first responders each day.
And tons of love to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in my beloved former stomping grounds of Asheville, NC for taking in animals before and after the storm. They're at @brotherwolfAR and you can donate here:…
There are plenty of other places to donate goods, but cash is king after a disaster. Use @charitynav to assess whether an unfamiliar charity/nonprofit is right for you. They can't possibly evaluate them all, but they certainly evaluate many of them. Thanks for helping out. ❤️
P.S. I love you NC. If I ever get this covered up, I assure you it will be with something NC-related like a plate of biscuits, a giant Cheerwine logo, or someone talking shit on Duke. Also, I'll see you in November.
