🔷Defamation and fraud lawsuit against Swetnick in Oregon in November 2000 (WebTrends)
🔷WebTrends accused Swetnick of lying about graduating John’s Hopkins
🔷WebTrends filed suit for “inappropriate conduct,” making “false and retaliatory allegations” of sexual harassment against two male co-workers.
🔷 After a WebTrends HR Dir informed Swetnick the company was unable to corroborate her claims she “remarkably” walked back allegations.
🔷In June, month after the alleged incident, Swetnick took leave of absence for sinus issues.
🔷WebTrends said it made short-term disability payments to her until mid-August 2000.
🔷One week after the payments stopped, WebTrends received a note from Swetnick’s doctor claiming she needed a leave of absence for a “nervous breakdown.”
🔷 Company continued to provide health insurance coverage for Swetnick, despite her refusal to provide any additional information about her alleged medical condition.
🔷 In Nov. the company’s HR Dir received notice from Washington, D.C. Dept. of Unemployment that Swetnick applied for unemployment benefits claiming she left WebTrends voluntarily in late September.
🔷Swetnick claimed benefits of FT employee of WebTrends, sought disability payments from WebTrends’ insurance carrier.
🔷Falsely claimed UI payments from the District of Columbia
🔷Swetnick allegedly hung up the phone on WebTrends HR managers calling to discuss why she applied for unemployment benefits.
🔷She then sent letters to WebTrends’ upper mgmt w/new claims that two male co-workers sexually harassed her and that company’s HR Dir “illegally tried for months to get privileged medical information” from her, her doctor and her insurance company.
🔷 March ‘01 Swetnick’s ex-boyfriend, Richard Vinneccy, filed a restraining order against Swetnick, claiming that she threatened him after he ended their four-year relationship.
