Concept art of Mario comforting a lonely man in New Donk City, from the Art of Super Mario Odyssey book Image
For reference, there's a sidequest in Super Mario Odyssey where all you have to do is sit down and hang out with a guy and make him feel better ImageImageImageImage
Concept art of Mario and Peach sharing a quiet moment in the Mushroom Kingdom, from the Art of Super Mario Odyssey book Image
Mario Odyssey has concept art of Peach, Bowser and Mario all sitting down at a restaurant together and I have no idea why this scene isn't in the final game Image
If you're feeling down, just look at this concept art of Mario stealing a cop's hat and fleeing the scene to escape arrest Image
An unused concept for Mario Odyssey's Cascade Kingdom, which would see Mario explore a dark forest full of glowing Piranha Plants Image
Unused costumes for Peach in Super Mario Odyssey ImageImage
The early concepts for Mario Odyssey's Broodals were so good it hurts we didn't get them in the final game ImageImage
An unused level design for Mario Odyssey, which appears to depict a corrupted version of the Mushroom Kingdom Image
I scoured the Mario Odyssey art book and wrote about the best concepts, characters and outfits that Nintendo left out of the game. New Donk City (and its pedestrians) once looked way different

I cannot stress enough that this is official Super Mario Odyssey concept art. Someone at Nintendo was paid to draw Fat King Bowser crushing a Toad skull under his foot Image
I threw all the neat Mario Odyssey art book details into a Moment if that's more convenient for folks twitter.com/i/moments/1047…
Concept art of Mario confronting a pack of New Donk City cats who are holding a moon hostage Image
Mario Odyssey designers went through TONS of different "Broodals" minibosses before landing on the moon rabbits in the game. Really into this Resevoir Dogs-ish set in particular ImageImageImageImage

Zelda: Breath of the Wild's 4th anniversary is today, so I thought it might be fun to gather some of the fun details and tidbits I've held onto over the years.

Thread:
I didn't notice this for the longest time, but Link and Ganon's stasis pods are super similar (the veins especially). These two mortal enemies were basically dozing for 100 years in the same, color-coded sleeping bags.
Nintendo put a lot of thought into color coding in Breath of the Wild. The Ganon-controlled Guardians are red, but in pre-corruption flashbacks they're tinted Shiekah orange. That's why Guardians in combat shrines are orange, too -- they're not enemies, just testers.

The timeless Kiki's Delivery Service turns 30 years old today. There are so many little details in this movie that have kept it close to my heart, so I want to share a few of them.

Many are just tiny little things, like how Kiki pins her sleeves back cooking with the oven.
Here you can see Kiki knotted up her dress so that she could keep dry while washing the floor. She wears this dress every day, and the animators have thought that through. These little realistic quirks make a movie about a witch feel grounded and lived-in.
The fictional town in Kiki's Delivery Service is a dreamy mishmash of Europe and America, with Nordic architecture and San Francisco cable cars. And if you look closely at the map, you'll see all the locations are named after places in Hawaii.
