Reports indicate atmosphere in #Iran's parliament (the Majlis) is very tense as members review the anti-money laundering Financial Action Task Force (FATF) signing bill.
Sources say "hardliners" are voicing threats about the signing of this bill.

"Regarding the FATF, should we commit suicide today by signing this bill because we're going to die in the future?" says Behrouz Nemati, a member of #Iran's Majlis (parliament).

Read more about Iran & the FATF here:
"Hardliners in Iran’s parliament have opposed passing legislation toward compliance with FATF standards, arguing it could hamper Iranian financial support for allies such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which the US has classified as a terrorist organization."…
"The Guardian Council, which vets legislation passed by parliament for compliance with the constitution, objected to four items in the anti-money laundering amendments and returned the measure to parliament,..."…
#Iran's Majlis (parliament) has voted to approve the CFT (countering the financing of terrorism) measures included in the FATF bill.…)…

Now we have to see if the Guardian Council & @khamenei_ir himself agree...
"The measures, which allow Iran to join a convention against the funding of terrorism (CFT), still have to be approved by a clerical body before they become law."…
Video showing today's tensions in #Iran's Majlis (parliament) as members vote on FATF measures, including countering the financing of terrorism (CFT).
A rally of #Iran's so-called "principalists" opposing today's approval by the Majlis (parliament) regarding the FATF convention on "countering the financing of terrorism (CFT)."

Adopting this bill will "hamper Iranian financial support for allies such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah."
On June 20th, #Iran's Khamenei ordered the Majlis (parliament) to vote against the FATF conventions & adopt their own bill.

This new turn of events shows the regime is feeling the heat of domestic protests & global isolation.

Despite specifically opposing FATF conventions in June, @khamenei_ir sent this letter to the Majlis (parliament) today ordering them to adopt the measures .

Source cites @JZarif saying:
Neither me, nor the president, cannot guarantee the FATF CFT (see link) signing will resolve our problems. But we do guarantee if we don't sign, the U.S. will cause even more problems for us.…)

Let us all remember this day that #Iran's parliament voted to approve a bill against financing terrorism.

First, we'll have to see if the regime comes up with a new pretext to go back on this decision.

Second, the world should punish the mullahs for even one violation.
For the record, this is the video showing @JZarif saying what I explained in tweet #11 of this thread:
Abiding by FATF conventions will only prevent the U.S. from imposing pressures in case #Iran had not signed the FATF CFT standards.
