“…sanctions reimposed by U.S. President Donald Trump since August have played havoc…”
“It is one of many ways in which the sanctions are hurting ordinary Iranians while benefiting those with access to hard currency.”
First of all, this claim/argument is an old lie.
A United Nations “special rapporteur” sunk to a similar low, claiming U.S. sanctions are violating human rights in #Iran.
Even the European Commission has been debunked when resorting to such lies.
The EC even lied about the special rapporteur’s actual position.
See for yourself.
"... the U.S. maintains broad authorizations and exceptions that allow for the sale of food, medicine, and medical devices by U.S. persons or from the United States to Iran."
"U.S. sanctions laws provide similar allowances for sales of food, agricultural commodities, medicine, and medical devices to Iran by non-U.S. persons."
"To further assist non-U.S. persons, including banks and medical suppliers, in fully understanding these allowances, this Guidance underscores that these sales to Iran do not trigger sanctions under U.S. law."
This explains many things vividly about #Iran's regime wasting billions abroad & the people suffering...
I don’t know about you, but to me, this sounds like #Iran’s IRGC is extremely concerned about the status quo… and we’re still 3-4 weeks away from the next round of U.S. sanctions on Iran.
Another line from the @Reuters piece:
“The International Monetary Fund predicted this week that the economy would shrink 1.5 percent this year and 3.6 percent in 2019, before recovering slowly.”
Write this down somewhere.
It will be useful to remind the IMF & @Reuters when they are proven wrong.
“... if European nations succeeded in creating a special payments system permitting trade with Iran to continue, and if Tehran cracked down on endemic corruption, the economy might start recovering gradually a year from now.”
And rest assured fighting corruption is not in the nature of #Iran’s regime.
Not at all.
The state media of this corrupt regime reports:
"$9 billion of government currency has going missing..."
As always, the conclusion is yours to make.
