We have to look into reasons behind supposed low voter turnout or we're just spinning our wheels.

Major Democratic leaders can point out the disenfranchisement on TV for example.
One huge example? What if ...

🗣Texas is blue/purple
🗣Has been so for 2 or more decades
🗣Is a test ground for more types of cheating than gerrymandering?

This *may* not be true. I haven't deeply studied this outside the two areas I've lived in this state.
But this needs investigating, at the least. That's the reason for this thread, and my last "voting isn't the only answer" thread.
We need people who *are not invested in Texas staying red* both to investigate and folks *at the federal level who are impartial* to report it to.
Let's start with why it's important - the "Texas is really blue" alternate universe.
(Besides the fact that as citizens we have the right to an equal vote, and the electoral college itself has become a form of voter disenfranchisement.)
1- In elections that came down to the Electoral college - Texas could swing the country blue.
To do this, we need there to be someone to go to in order to fix this problem instead of our own corrupt and possibly compromised Congressional red or state government.
2- Imagine how many Presidents might not have been Presidents and then might not have won.
Maybe Reagan and the two Bushes don't win? Without the Electoral College? We don't have President Asterisk either.
It's pretty common knowledge that the Republicans have leveraged Texas to win elections. Texas hasn't been red since President Carter.

What if Texas isn't rely or fully blue & it's just easy for them to buy/ cheat here?
There's this perception outside of Texas that Texas is hopelessly red.

The imagery of Red Texas was so strong to me that I resisted moving her as long as I could.
Then I got here. And locally it's odd how the government is red but where people live, blue policies are in effect.
I've never lived in a non-white community that has this sparse of a patrolling police presence.
Every major chain is far more ADA compliant that the DC tri-state area.
I've never seen a Ted Cruz sign. But when we do we look at neighborhooda & houses, routinely.

Granted I don't get out much. But never?
@BetoORourke signs are actually the only ones I've seen, period.
There are so many local Democratic organizations and activists based here. So many. Not like when I lived in Nevada, another red state. & I lived in Vegas.

Shout out to @ImTheQ & @TexanTruth42 @ @texasdemocrats.
I'll leave you with these two items to think about. Because if Texas has been under siege politically since the time of Reagan?
Fixing that allows us to fix the Electoral College problem, which could give us another super majority. Which could have a huge domino effect. #GOTV #CripTheVote #BlueWave
The weird thing that got me thinking. The oddity of a red state having two faithless electors.

If you need to quote/ use a screen reader - the text follows in the next tweet. ‪Texas assigns its 38 Electoral College votes to the state's popular vote winner, but two faithless electors chose other candidates, making Texas the only state in 2016 to give Trump fewer than the assigned electoral votes‬
"Texas assigns its 38 Electoral College votes to the state's popular vote winner, but two faithless electors chose other candidates, making Texas the only state in 2016 to give Trump fewer than the assigned electoral votes."
"The last Democratic presidential candidate to win the state was Jimmy Carter in 1976. Previously, a Democrat had to win Texas to win the White House, but in the 1992 election, Bill Clinton won the Oval Office while losing Texas electoral votes.

Whoops hasn't *voted* BLUE since Carter. My empire for an edit button.
