You guys! John Lewis is coming to Fayetteville!…
The Congressman is coming to support Dan McCready, our local congressional candidate, in a tightly contested race.
McCready's opponent Mark Harris is a hot mess of a human being whose talking points on women's rights are so nuts, OTHER SOUTHERN PASTORS are reading him for filth on it…
But that's not why I support Dan McCready. I was excited about him long before the primary, back before he was running against an actual character from Handmaid's Tale.
I do a lot of work with energy & climate here in North Carolina. My big project for the last year was getting out info about the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.…
This project does nothing to serve our state's economic interests; locks us shipping billions of dollars out of state per year just to keep the lights on; and it's a fossil fuel nightmare.
Now's not the time time to build MORE fossil fuel infrastructure.
Enter Dan McCready. He's not just a fan of renewable energy- he personally headed projects that generate a huge chunk of North Carolina's renewable portfolio.…
During the 2018 primaries I spent a lot of time sitting down with candidates and taking them through what a pipeline would actually mean for our state. It was a really tough haul. Most candidates just can't wrap their heads around the fact that solar's even a thing now.
Dan McCready on the other hand was way ahead of me. He already knew, for example, that unsubsidized solar energy is both cheaper than fossil fuels in NC AND generates more jobs. He's been telling people that for years.
(ps: solar energy's cheaper than fossil fuels & generates more jobs bc you don't have to buy fuel to keep it going. Once it's built, the operating costs are mostly just human labor.)
This candidate is intimately familiar with the hurdles that fossil fuel lobbyists are putting in the way of renewable energy, because he's been fighting them for years. I'm so pleased to be able to support him for Congress, where he can take that fight to the national level.
Anyway, there are lots of other reasons to love Dan McCready, but energy policy is mine. I work in agriculture, and climate change is a huge threat for us. Poor rural employment is a huge deal for us. Renewable energy, and political leaders that will champion it, are huge.
*he's the one on the right lol
