A fair chunk of Trump's cabinet attends the fundamentalist Bible study sessions of Ralph Drollinger who teaches them (among other things) that human-caused global warming is impossible because of a promise God is alleged to have made to Noah.
The Christian fascists in the Trump administration are politically quite savvy - they will not try to implement their entire theocratic agenda all at once. They'll do it incrementally. But now they have the power of entities such as the NSA at their disposal...
The potential for such government surveillance technology has NOT escaped the theo-fascists. Near the dynamic core of the movement is the New Apostolic Reformation... and top leaders in that movement have "prophesied" that in the coming "kingdom"...
...Americans would under behavioral retraining. The regime, according to NAR "prophet" Rick Joyner, may at first "seem like totalitarianism". Here's the key quote (from elijahlist.com/words/display_… ) :
The Joyner quote: "Instead of taking away liberties and becoming more domineering, the kingdom will move from a point of necessary control while people are learning truth, integrity, honor, and how to make decisions, to increasing liberty so that they can."
Joyner, by the way, met several times with Trump before the '016 election. Not that I think Trump a clue about what Rick Joyner is about. The point, rather, is that Joyner is a top leader in the stream of (Protestant) Christian fascism that dominates the Trump White House.
Another key point - the Protestant Christian right does selectively reject the findings of mainstream science, but it has long been a part of the technological vanguard. That's the paradox - for example, Pentescostalism emerged at the start of the 20th Century, and at once...
Pentecostal missionaries latched onto new technologies, just about as soon as they were invented, to propel their efforts to spread the faith. They were motoring about the US (and the world) in Model T Fords, and setting up radio stations to broadcast The Word. It didn't stop...
...the would-be theocrats were in the vanguard of the computer revolution in the 1990s and 2000s. Liberal & secular Americans reflexively cast the Christian right as a knuckle dragging, atavistic affair, but that wholly misses what the movement elites are & how they operate.
By the way, in reference to my first tweet in this thread, back in early 2017 I wrote this - twocare.org/pence-sessions… - on Capitol Ministries, a phenomenon since covered in probably hundreds of news stories, none of which (to my knowledge) has acknowledged my original one.
