On “reconciliation” in Macedonia, the corrosion of democracy, and astrologers

Some brief thoughts as the Government of #Macedonia prepares a series of constitutional amendments that will allow Macedonia to commit national suicide:

First, there is the proposed and so-called “reconciliation commission.” According to MIA, the so-called speaker of the Macedonian parliament, Talat Xhaferi, would chair this group which is envisioned on the initiative of the eight members of parliament from VMRO-DPMNE
who voted to change Macedonia’s constitution on Friday, October 19. Setting aside the issue of that vote, the reasons why those members voted that way, and a whole host of additional issues, the idea of an army deserter, Talat Xhaferi,
Talat Xhaferi, a man who left his post in the Army of the Republic of Macedonia in 2001 to join the so-called “National Liberation Army” and directly participated in the war of 2001 where innocent people were murdered —
the idea of this man chairing any “reconciliation commission” is farcical and a tremendous slap in the face of those murdered and their loved ones.
If he truly wants to chair such a commission, he must begin by apologizing on behalf of himself and the entire NLA for his crimes and the crimes the NLA committed. Then, and only then, can we truly talk about reconciliation and forgiveness.
You want to talk about reconciliation? Remember, the entire rank and file of the NLA escaped justice and was granted amnesty and the leadership of the NLA was never tried.
In a truly just society, the leadership would have been legally executed or would be spending the balance of their lives in jail. In a recent Balkan Insight article, “Besa Arifi, a legal sciences professor at the South Eastern European University in Tetovo,
said the ongoing parliament initiative for reconciliation can ‘contribute for the greater good in the society.’” But then she turned around and said “that reconciliation should not be confused with the legal terms of amnesty and pardon,
which she thinks “are not going to help Macedonia to improve the rule of law.” So, amnesty for me, but not for thee? She is nothing more, nothing less, than a hypocrite. Talat Xhaferi, Ali Ahmeti, and Zoran Zaev are also nothing more, nothing less, than hypocrites.
All of this contributes to the corrosion of democracy.

And that corrosion is becoming increasingly obvious in the West today, as democracy itself is in a state of deep crisis between two Houses: democratic imperialism (represented to a large degree by the US State Department,
the EU, NATO, and mainstream media, think-tanks and academia in the West) and democratic nationalism (represented to a large degree by those who support independent and sovereign nation-states, and stand against global governance).
Democracy is corroding from the inside out and we see, daily, a spate of examples of how the so-called small “d” democrats in the West are essentially twisting democracy to suppress any thought or voices other than their own while pointing fingers at those who disagree with them
and calling them various epithets, a favorite one being “nationalist.” It is therefore useful to remember the wisdom of the past: the late writer, scholar, and philosopher, Englishman G. K. Chesterton (1874–1936) opined on “nationalism”
in many of his writings giving us such truths as “I am a Little Englander myself, in the sense of being a Nationalist rather than an Imperialist,” “The thing that prevents imperialism is nationalism,” “Imperialism seeks to destroy patriotism….
Imperialism is an opportunist cosmopolitanism,” and “If patriotism does not mean a defined and declared preference for certain traditions or surroundings, it means nothing whatsoever.”
The ironic thing about the democratic imperialists in the House of Democracy is that in using force to get their way, in using coercion, in using whatever tools they have at their disposal, they negate the very idea of democracy.
So they themselves are becoming the authoritarians and totalitarians that Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn warned the West about in the 1970s. But prophets are rarely believed.
Probably upwards of 95% of these people adhering to democratic imperialism who want to change Macedonia’s name, identity, Constitution, heritage, history, culture and so much more also believe that those people who voted for Trump are deplorables;
those people who support Brexit are despicable; those Hungarians, Poles, Italians and others who want their own sovereignty, independence and freedom are nothing more than troglodytes.
These democratic imperialists are part of a want-to-be ruling class of high priests and priestesses who are a part of the cult of global governance. We must not let them win.
Finally, Lord George Robertson, the former NATO Secretary-General and a democratic imperialist himself, recently revealed that he is an astrologer, or at least a secret astrologer. As he explained to the Atlantic Council in Washington, DC in the middle of October,
the Prespa agreement is an “alignment of the stars.” I have always found it curious that individuals such as Lord Robertson, who eschew organized religion and faith, often adopt the language of paganism and the occult in describing their views.
Robertson, of course, added that this agreement is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, essentially repeating the old, tired line that “there is no alternative.”
As we wait for the Government of Macedonia to deliver its proposed amendments to Macedonia’s constitution, remember this: the battles continue, the fight is not over, there are always alternatives, and freedom must continually be maintained,
fought for, and handed down to successive generations. I hope you remain Happy Warriors.
