🌊🌊🌊#California #Midterms #Election : A #votersguide🌊🌊🌊

(A) Please share/repost/comment to increase visibility and help someone vote. Please make one of these for your state. I'll try to keep these fairly succinct and cite sources where I can. This is how I'm voting:
(B) Governor: @GavinNewsom

Whether you're a Newsom loyalist or a contrarian who likes to impress their friends by not being for anything popular, here's your alternative: "President Trump Endorses Republican John Cox for..." Yeah, nope.

(C) Lt. Governor: Eleni Koulanakis @eleniforca

The Sac Bee/EMILY's List/Nancy Pelosi and Kamala Harris all endorse her. She seems highly qualified to tackle California's affordable housing and homelessness problems and out of the two candidates she's the only one who mentioned
(D) the environment (which wins huge points in our family) AND she would be the State's first female Lt. Governor if elected!

(E) Secretary of State: Alex Padilla @AlexPadilla4CA

I mentioned way back during the Primaries how much I love Alex Padilla. The sentiment hasn't changed. One thing that really won me over is that while running for his first term he promised to register more California voters
(F) via technology and doing away with cumbersome outdated systems and seems to have delivered on his promise with 2 millions more voters on state rolls than when he was elected. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

(G) Controller: Betty Yee @BettyYeeforCA

I know I'm heavy on the @latimes but this is cool. They about faced on Betty Yee four years ago after endorsing her REPUBLICAN opponent: "When Democrat Betty Yee ran for state controller four years ago, we weren’t persuaded that she was
(H) better prepared for the post than her Republican opponent, Fresno’s then-Mayor Ashley Swearengin, whom we endorsed. Yee won, of course, and we’re pleased to acknowledge that she has performed her official duties well. We enthusiastically endorse her for reelection."
(I) Don't tell me that paper is biased.

(J) State Treasurer: Fiona Ma @fionama

Fiona Ma in a lot of ways is ideal for State Treasurer. Based off of what she did with the Board of Equalization in 2014, the fact that she's a certified public accountant with master's degrees in Taxation and Business Administration
(K) and given her track record in politics this is a no-brainer.

(L) Attorney General: Xavier Becerra @XavierBecerra

This guy's story of being born in America, raised in Tijuana and leaving Mexico to work in the fields of the US/literally pouring sweat into construction and railroad jobs and climbing the political ladder to his current
(M) position is worthy of a biopic. But he's also so representative of a real side of America that is being targeted and erased by the current administration. For this reason, he's one of our best weapons against the hatred/blatant racism and marginalization coming from Trump
(N) and his administration toward our hispanic friends/family/brothers(and all marginalized groups really).

(O) Insurance Commissioner: Ricardo Lara @RicardoLara4CA

Look, forgiveness is important. People do change. While Poizner says he regrets his past stance that echoes the divisive anti-immigrant stances of the current GOP, we've heard this song and dance before.
(P) Ricardo Lara on the other hand is the son of Mexican Immigrants and the first openly gay person of color to be elected for the California State Senate. The more diversity in our representation the better.

(Q) US Senator: Kevin De Leon @kdeleon

I voted for Feinstein in the Primaries(full disclosure) but since then I have not been super pleased with her performance in the Kavanaugh saga. She's done a great job for a very long time but I feel like it's time for a new face.
(R) I feel like it's time to give someone else a chance. Kevin is for banning automatic weapons and medicare for all. That's something I can get behind.

(S) That's it for statewide. I hope at least some of you found this helpful. I am probably going to do one locally for my county. My hope is that this makes voting a little easier for first time voters or people who just feel overwhelmed by the choices. When in doubt, research.
(T) Google is your friend and reputable sources are as well. When in doubt, always follow the money. Action speaks louder than words. Talk is cheap. Happy voting!
(U) One more thing @latimes dudes and other newspapers. Could you at least remove the pay wall from articles where you are endorsing a candidate/explaining why you think they are good for the job? Seems silly to withhold info from non payers for something this important.
(V) THE PROPOSITIONS Almost forgot. Why are these so tricky/convoluted?

Prop 1: Yes
Prop 2: Yes
Prop 3: NO *Shady alert* This one is disguised to look pro environment/drought smart but it's classic pay-to-play mercurynews.com/2018/09/19/edi…
(W)

Prop 4: Yes
Prop 5: Yes
Prop 6: NO *Voting 'yes' on this is short sighted. I hate high gas prices too but we need our roads to be in good shape.*
Prop 7: Yes - Because DST is stupid and the sooner we can do away with it the better if we ever get the chance.
(X)

Prop 8: YES *Shady alert* Why did the two largest dialysis companies spend $111 million trying to defeat this proposition? Could it be because this reels in their rampant unchecked profiting off of the sick? Always follow the money and the money in this situation is loud af!
(Y)

Prop 9: Doesn't exist. Pat yourself on the back you're doing great.
Prop 10: No
Prop 11: NO *Shady alert* this is another one of those bass ackwards measure descriptions that makes you go... wtf am I voting for. When it comes to our EMTs - shouldn't we defer to them?
(Z)

You know the people who work 12-24 hour shifts to save people's lives? I have yet to hear any person who works as an EMT say yes to this. Vote no to protect them from corporate abuse.
Prop 12: Yes *I guess I care more about animals than human convenience and bottom lines*
🎶 Now you're voting A-Z, next time won't you vote with me. 🎶 Okay I think I've done my civic duty. Now it's time to go be full blown sick in peace and quiet. Goodnight.
