How CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana compromised the security and lives of millions of Indians under the #SmartCities project by collaborating with shady foreign spy firms who could now exploit our sensitive police data & other realtime info.…
Rakesh Asthana then Police Commissioner was involved in deploying very sensitive Forensic Criminal Investigation Sys requiring real-time intelligence gathering working in sync with police database. Given the nature of work & risks involved it must be handeled carefully. Was it?
“The Face Recognition System & Forensic Criminal Investigation System can offer our police department the much required real-time intelligence to ensure safety of our city and its citizens. We can now proudly say that Surat Safe City is India’s first Safe City.”
- Rakesh Asthana
However under the guise of providing safety & security a surveillance dragnet was created for spying on citizens of India & with utter disregard to homeland security this job was outsourced and that too contracted to shady foreign firm linked to their intelligence agencies.
This has not only put the security of millions of Indians at risk but has also allowed foreign spies to get a foothold inside India as well as penetrate into sensitive police records & terrorist & other databases with damning consequences for security of the entire nation.
Docs with @GreatGameIndia show it was part of Microsoft’s vision to transform cities into Digital #SmartCities tht partnership was initiated betn Surat Municipal Corporation & Microsoft #CityNext to develop Surat as SmartCity under which extensive surveillance dragnet was setup.
One aspect of #Microsoft #CityNext vision is to provide a solution for public safety orgs to connect disparate data systems, share real-time info & leverage data analysis models to create an #Aadhaar based Command & Control surveillance station for #SmartCities like Surat.
Using Big Data Internet & eGovernance #Microsoft #CityNext envisions creating #Aadhaar based Command & Control surveillance Centre as model for other cities to follow in name of #SmartCities. For deployment of this sensitive project foreign spy firms were hired by Rakesh Asthana.
In 2015 this Aadhaar based surveillance unit comprising real time facial recognition, number plate recognition & vehicle speed violation system was setup in Gujarat by Rakesh Asthana under #SmartCities project initiated by #Microsoft #CityNext initiative compromising police data.
Heres Rakesh Asthana at landmark #GoLive event of Picture Intelligence Unit PIU at Surat Police HQ in July 2015 where Japanese Nippon Electric Company NEC completed successful deployment #FaceRecognition System (FRS) as part of #SmartCities project for Surat City Police Gujarat.
Heres Anandi Ben Patel then Chief Minister of Gujarat with Koichiro Koide Managing Director NEC India & Rakesh Asthana inaugurating the landmark deployment at the ‘go-live’ event of #Aadhaar based surveillance Picture Intelligence Unit PIU at Surat Police Headquarters in city.
As part of project 5000 CCTVs were installed at 500 places in Surat used for #Aadhaar based surveillance by NEC’s face recognition tech #NeoFaceWatch while #NeoFaceReveal is used for forensic criminal investigation using recorded videos, still face images & sketches of suspects
Picture Intelligence Unit will also assimilate databases from other states across India making it a first-of-its-kind video analytics and facial recognition system in the country. Documents & internal emails available with @GreatGameIndia show this is #Aadhaar based surveillance.
