Gender pay gap:

New UK @ONS analysis shows that the big difference between men and women's hourly pay is that significantly more women have really badly paid work (around min wage)
@ONS This is because many more women work part-time and, to be technical for a second, part timers get stuffed in the UK labour market
@ONS It is predominantly mothers who work part-time. So this represents a motherhood penalty....

Because UK society has been rubbish at sorting this out...
