Wow. Justice Democrats had a really, really bad inaugural election cycle. They backed 75 non-incumbents. 23 advanced to the general. Only 4 of them won, all in *very* safe (78% - 100%) Dem seats. 4 out of 75 = 5% win record. 😳
Brand New Congress fared even worse. Their initial goal was to flip all 435 House seats. Failing to attract candidates, they adjusted to “a few select” seats. Only 11 of their original candidates made it to the GE and only ONE won: Ocasio-Cortez. 0.2% of their orig goal. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Despite the noise you hear on Twitter and from TYT (involved in creating JusticeDems) and former Sanders staffers (founders of BNC), seems pretty clear voters are *not* clamoring for candidates to move further left. Proof is in the pudding. 🍮
As for Our Revolution, most of their endorsements are in small, local races (city council, court clerk, state Rep, etc), but they’ve also endorsed in state-wide & federal races. At that level, they endorsed 5 incumbents who were shoo-ins, but fared poorly with non-incumbents ...
State-wide office (US Senate, Gov, etc):
25 endorsements; 23 losses, 1 win (Ellison, MN AG), and Abrams (TBD)
US Rep:
55 endorsements; 50 losses, 5 wins, all in *very* safe (D+30 to D+61) districts.
