1) Let’s talk about a new @Reuters piece & how Parisa Hafezi (@PHREUTERS) is rushing to the support of #Iran’s regime, throwing a lifeline to the mullahs in their desperate time of need.

“Iran’s economy to suffer but likely ride out U.S. sanctions storm”
uk.reuters.com/article/us-ira…
2)
First, the article cites “deepening divisions” between Trump & Europe.

That is just scratching the surface.

Here is something interesting to debunk that claim:

3)
@PHREUTERS then quotes “officials & analysts.”

“European diplomat who asked not to be further identified,” meaning this can be anybody.

(Signs of #FakeNews)
4)
@PHREUTERS talks about a “broadly united front of world powers” against Trump.

Here’s Russia throwing #Iran’s regime under the bus:
5)
And here’s China throwing #Iran’s regime under the bus:
6)
While EU states government may seem to oppose Trump’s #Iran policy, European companies aren’t listening.

7)
“The EU is preparing a special mechanism to enable payments for Iranian oil and other exports without U.S. dollars, possibly through a barter system.”

Here’s a thread debunking that “special mechanism,” known as the “special purpose vehicle.”
8)
Moving on.

This “second diplomat” could also be anybody.
9)
And here’s @PHREUTERS admitting something interesting:

All of this has “not dissuaded foreign businesses ranging from oil majors to trading houses and shipping concerns from pulling out of Iran for fear of incurring new U.S. penalties.”
10)
The article tries to save face by saying “a reduced but still significant volume of oil exports continuing” for #Iran.

Iran’s oil exports will be around 1.1 million bpd (for now) & all waivers are scheduled to end in early May.

Of course, @PHREUTERS won’t tell you this.
11)
Now, here is @PHREUTERS quoting an Iranian regime official:
12)
Yet @PHREUTERS won’t tell you that #Iran will not receive its oil revenue & the money will go into an escrow account, monitored to be used for the purchase of humanitarian goods only.

Basically: Oil for food.

13)
And here are some bogus inflation numbers:
14)
Prof. @steve_hanke’s numbers are far more correct & trustworthy:
15)
And here’s @PHREUTERS citing a senior official close to #Iran’s @khamenei_ir, who’s also attempting to save face & failing to provide any specific methods.
16)
@PHREUTERS then blames a rise in staple prices in #Iran, unemployment & businesses closing on Trump exiting the nuclear deal, all by citing the mullahs’ state news agency IRNA.

A very reliable source indeed (!)
17)
Of course, @PHREUTERS refuses to explain how Tehran is exactly using the Iranian people’s money currently & why 80% of the country lives in poverty.
18)
All said & done, in this piece @Reuters & @PHREUTERS have fallen to low of coming to the support of #Iran’s regime in the face of U.S. sanctions, all in the guise of “journalism.”
19)
Conclusion? Yours to make.

Thanks for reading!

I leave you with this question:

Should the U.S. continue its firm policy vis-à-vis #Iran’s regime?
20)
ADDENDUM:
A quick search on @PHREUTERS sheds light on her interesting relationship with #Iran regime apologist/lobbyist @tparsi.

"super Trita:)"

"that is great news Trita :)"

"loved it"

"Trita Jan:)"
21)
ADDENDUM:
And here's @PHREUTERS praising #Iran's Foreign Minister @jzarif.
