The author, Arron Reza Merat (@a_merat), was a Tehran correspondent for the Economist between 2011 and 2014. He has covered Iran for the Guardian, the Sunday Times and Vice News.
He leaves out the "Reza" part of his name to cover up his Iranian identity.
@a_merat begins by mentioning a couple who claim their daughter has been held by the MEK against her will.
Take into consideration that Ms. Somayeh Mohammadi joined the MEK back in the 1990s & the mere claim of being held against her will for over 20 years is ridiculous.
She has been interviewed, alone, by Canadian & U.S. officials on numerous occasions & proven that she is remaining a MEK member on her own will.
She has also written a book about her entire ordeal with the Iranian regime’s lies concerning her.
Here is Ms. Mohammadi’s letter to Fatmir Xhafaj, Minister of Internal Affairs of Albania, exposing the Iranian regime’s intention to use her case as means to pave the path for terror attacks against MEK members.
@a_merat, in his article, parrots lies dictated by #Iran’s regime to its agents across the West, such as the MEK being “responsible for the deaths of six Americans in Iran.”
This lie was debunked by @LBJunion.
@a_merat then resorts to another Tehran-fed lie about the MEK, claiming they sided with Saddam Hussein.
Question for Merat:
If the MEK sided with Saddam Hussein, how come they were not destroyed along with Saddam’s rule?
If the MEK had ever sided with Saddam, would the U.S. ever delist them from their foreign terrorist organization list?
Of course not.
Therefore, @a_merat is flat out lying.
@a_merat cites his and the Iranian regime’s main concern about the MEK:
This organization seeks to overthrow the mullahs’ regime.
That is why Tehran’s mullahs repeatedly resort to lies & demonize this organization.
@a_merat further voices the Iranian regime’s hatred of the MEK, as this organization blew the whistle on its clandestine nuclear program.
It’s good to know that France has taken the issue very seriously, expelled an Iranian regime diplomat & is refusing to introduce a new ambassador to Tehran until the mullahs provide an explanation over the foiled terror plot.
“The KDP can confirm that the Mujahedin were not involved in suppressing the Kurdish people neither during the uprising nor in its aftermath.”

Let's take a look at the report card of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, whom @a_merat speaks so fondly of.
