Election Post Mortem (Thread)

Alright everyone, it is nice to speak with you again my friends.

In any event, I should first and foremost congratulate us all on our victory in taking back the House. Actually, I had predicted about a 30-35 seat flip, but,
Many are now projecting 37+ seats to flip at this point. Which, while less than some were expecting, is quite a good outcome for us. Now, on election night, I was hearing quite a bit of negativity, as the results were not total blowouts. However, the magnitude of victory should
not be understated. Indeed, every single dirty trick in the book was thrown at us, and yet we still had a significant victory. So, please, quell your negativity and focus onto the positives. Of course, I wanted Beto to win, we all did, but that was not in the cards, I'm afraid.
We did however flip the governor's seats in Michigan and Wisconsin, and they will have the power to undo the massive Gerrymandering in those states. Also, Florida is too close to call at this point, and that would clearly be a massive pickup.
The Courts have overturned Pennsylvania's Gerrymandering, giving us significant inroads to actually keeping the House of Representatives. Meanwhile, the Senate was simply the worst luck Democrats had faced in nearly 100 years. But, in two more, we are poised to take it back.
Some people wanted a tsunami to wash us clean. But tsunami never wash anything, they can only destroy. Real, positive change never comes as a wave of destruction, rather, it is gained by fighting inch-by-inch, tooth and nail, knuckle by bloody knuckle.
And in the end, what is tested most is not our righteousness, but rather, our tenacity. And the enemies we must first defeat are not Orange Monstrosities in seats of power, nor evil collaborators from the shadows. The enemies we must first defeat lie within our own hearts.
As I said on Nov 10th, 2016: The left is in the midst of a hammering process. We may either give in to the hammer blows and be crushed. Or, we may endure then and become forged anew.
When I was learning survival techniques, living in the deep forests, I was taught the the proper, positive mental attitude was vital, every bit as important as water and fire. And no one falls more quickly than those given over to their own indulgent negativity.
What I see here in #TheResistance not a lack of intellect nor of intent, but rather, at times, of attitude.
Even if now you are still disappointed in the election, ask yourself first what more you could have done, rather than raging out at the world of shapeless and ever-shifting evils around you.
But, I do not wish this to turn into a lecture, my friends, I meant it to be congratulatory. So I will say that it has been an honor for me to fight by your side, and to continue to do so.

-Ryan.
