We have all seen people act the fool at airports, cinemas, in traffic, at hospitals etc. We have all heard them say that nonsensical, infantile, conceited irrational phrase "do you know who I am" when they are being corrected for doing the wrong things.
We have seen people who get up during a flight to open the overhead lockers while the seatbelt signs were on attack air hostesses for telling them to respect themselves and abide by the rules and regulations.
We have seen fellow Nigerians at the toll gate drive all the way to the end with no respect for queues and order, and expect to be treated as kings. We have seen them talk down to security at malls whose job is to check everyone coming in irrespective of who they are.
Why do you think these things happen? Because we have had leaders like @atiku who believe they can not be subjected to the same rules and regulations that apply to all the citizens of Nigeria. This insane sense of entitlement has permeated the entire society. It is shameful
I am glad that Atiku exposed himself with that tweet about his experience at the airport. Kudos to all the staff of @FAAN_Official @CustomsNG @nigimmigration and all other agencies that ensure there's sanity at our ports of entry. Much respect to you.
On arrival from London not too long ago, an elderly man I shared the flight with who had submissively gone through all the checks at Heathrow, stayed calmly on the queue for his turn... suddenly felt he had transformed to a super human being when we landed in Abuja
He headed straight for the beginning of the line as we got document checking area. As usual, docile Nigerians kept quiet..but I didn't. I asked him why he felt he could get ahead of everyone else on the line..he acted deaf and dumb. So I raised the tempo
I raised my voice and the immigration officer and airport security officer at the end of the line politely asked him to go back and join the queue. I then mentioned to him that I saw him act rationally in London..his response "are we in London?"
What does this tell you? These relics of the last like Atiku are used to the old ways where anything goes, where the abnormal is seen as normal...days when such acts would have gotten him a salute and a smile from the airport staff.

Not anymore.

Never again.
