Alisa wrote an article for @TGC on why people are leaving Christianity.

She says it's because:
1. We are questioning the Bible
2. We have "unresolved" issues with why there's evil in the world.
3. We want morals that don't discriminate people.

Here's my thoughts...
1. Authority should be questioned. Bible included. It's a Frankenstein book. Research "Yahweh" and find the Bible wasn't always monotheistic. Think of all the robed men you'd have to trust 100% to write, edit, and pick the right writings while 100% certain the world is flat.
Discouraging people to question the authority of the Bible is insanely unhealthy. That's Spiritual Abuse. Total disregard for your logic.

Contradictions matter when you claim to be the sole authority of Truth in the Universe.
2. My unresolved issues of evil were from those in the church. When I was a Christian, we claimed to be the only people to have God and real love. I believed the world was totally depraved. We exaggerated the "evil" of non-Christians, but...
We were the exact same. We were just people, and there was NO evidence of supernatural love in my churches. I saw the same sort of love for others in the church and out. This wasn't "common grace." It was just that we're all people.
Christians, especially Fundamentalists like @alisachilders, claim to be supernaturally gifted to love others in ways the rest of the world can't. Is there evidence for that?

No. Not in my 28 years of being in church and dedicating my whole life to the Gospel did I see that.
I guess @alisachilders is correct. One reason I left was was the presence of unresolved evil in Christians. Racism. Homophobia. Silence over Trump, etc.

Listen, Alisa. I remember the Manning quote from the DCTalk song....
"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians, who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle."

If you claim to have supernatural powers, I expect proof. I looked for 28 years, and the church shit on me.
I left because I realized the claims can't back it up. I was able to get over not having evidence of angels, ghosts, magic, witches, dragons, satyrs, unicorns, worldwide floods, magic jars of flour, flying chariots of fire, a talking donkey, a talking snake, sea monsters...

But then I think of all the people even your network supported who have fallen after finding out they're complete assholes. I'm looking at you @PastorMark and @darrinpatrick, in addition to the pastors in my life.
Is the Holy Spirit sleeping? Has he been on the shitter for thousands of years? Yet, your people are the last to realize simple morality.

Don't come at us like we're doing something wrong for holding you accountable to what you say. Good grief.
3. Look at the stats of #LGBT teenagers who kill themselves for not having supporting parents. Go to a funeral of one. Tell the people there that the kid didn't understand Gospel well enough.

Get back to me, and let me know how that goes.
I appreciate that @alisachilders wrote on what's has to be a difficult subject for her. But damn, we deserve better than this propaganda.

When I was a Gospel Coalition loving guy, I deserved better.
We're leaving because logic and sense cleared out before us. We're leaving because it doesn't add up. We're leaving because living truth is better than living lies, especially when those lies are informing a country obsessed with patriarchy and power.
We're leaving because when we believed in God, we took him seriously. We needed him. Cried out for him while weeping. Begged him to come.

But the ol' dick was silent. And we tried to convince ourselves that was a good enough answer.

Not anymore.
