Nine years since it's passage, many Americans remain confused about #ACA, also known as #Obamacare.

The ACA is NOT insurance. It is a law mandating insurance company provisions. It covers EVERY American who has health insurance of any kind, individually or via their employer.
The #ACA requires all insurance providers cover #PreExistingConditions; requires women be covered for all services and not be charged more than men; that all insurers provide low-cost policies so that everyone have access to a plan.

This is what #ACA does.
It is NOT insurance.
The Obama administration set up healthcare.gov, with insurance navigators to help people choose the best and most affordable plans through health insurers in their areas.

The government also offers tax credit subsidies for health insurance based on income.
The #GOP attempted to overturn #ACA 67 x--even though SCOTUS ruled in favor of ACA in the two lawsuits brought against the law.

In Dec 2017, the #GOP Senate passed skinny repeal in the #GOPTaxBill by one vote. This vitiated the ACA mandate that all Americans have insurance.
Voiding the #ACA mandate meant the pools that balanced costs of premiums were eliminated, causing premiums to rise exponentially in January 2018. Millions more will rise in January 2019.

The ACA is the ONLY law protecting the 131M Americans with #PreExistingConditions.
#HillaryClinton initiated #UniversalHealthcare in 1993, but Congress shot her down

If Dems are able to regain the Senate in 2020, they can attempt another run at #MedicareForAll which John Conyers put up every year for 20yrs & Ted Kennedy co-signed & fought for in the Senate.
So if you argue against the #ACA, be sure you know what you are talking about and that the only people who want to end the ACA are #GOP who favor business over lives.

The ACA protects women and sick people. Nothing else ever has.
You have till Dec.15 to sign up for health insurance via healthcare.gov if you don't have it.
I urge people to actually investigate their health insurance plans and determine what is best and most affordable for you.

But the #ACA is not the problem.
Your insurer is.
