So this is how @SenSanders new book begins - a meeting with @HillaryClinton and team to ostensibly plan a common campaign. Note the date: June 14, 2016. 1/
Two days LATER, there's Jeff Weaver insisting Sanders is still a candidate for the nomination. But maybe they won't lobby superdelegates after all to try and overthrow the will of Democratic voters. 2/ politico.com/story/2016/06/…
And a day AFTER THAT, oh look there's Weaver insisting that Sanders is "still an active candidate" for the nomination. politico.com/video/2016/06/… 3/
Back to the book - which is subtitled "two years in the Resistance" (that's another thread right there) - here's what Sanders said the June 14th meeting was about. 4/
Keep in mind what the strategy had been over the four weeks leading up to the meeting. When the nomination was no longer in any doubt whatsoever. You won't find this in Bernie's revisionist text. nytimes.com/2016/05/19/us/… 5/
So here's my point: Sanders understandably glosses over the history to present a portrait of comity and cooperation. Why? He's running in 2020. He thinks we will forget. But the political reality is this: we will not forget. He has no path to the nomination. #
