When are readers going to learn the difference between serious op-eds on matters of policy importance, and meaningless, pointlessly controversial opinions that have no discernible purpose beyond generating revenue for a clickbait clearinghouse?
This is one of those things that just utterly perplex me. Why do ppl patronize these sites?

Journalism as a pure public service is long gone. Today it's a business. And that business has a model built on creating conflict and strife in order to draw spectators to the spectacle.
#1 question I get from bystanders to this circus. "Why do we seem more polarized today more than ever?"

#1 answer. Multiple factors. But the shift of news from a public service to scandal obsessed entertainment outlet ranks up there.
