So, I did a bit off research of @EFL clubs accounts to see what the score was.
Without a shadow of doubt clubs in the #EFL are floating on a magic carpet of cash that is provided by parachute payments or ‘mug’ owners chasing @premierleague cash.

I say mug owners because..
They can’t all win. Some individual clubs have literally frittered away £100’s of millions on this dream. Collectively it’s BILLIONS.

@EFL doesn’t keep our 72 clubs going. Private funds, much from overseas is keeping the 72 afloat.

Many clubs are technically insolvent..
..right up the 72 and their accounts carry a statement that they would NOT be a going concern without continued cash infusion from owners.

Make no mistake about it. Without the mug owners, there would be no #EFL because most would go under.

The @SkyBetChamp club owners..
...will collectively lose over a BILLION quid, chasing their dreams of @premierleague bounty over the next few years.
It’s the economics of the mad house.
@Rovers have burned there way through £150m, @OfficialBWFC more, leaving clubs wholly dependent on their mug owners. They..
..are just 2 of many examples, but the only certain thing is that the losses will continue, unless or until they reach the @premierleague
But the @premierleague isn’t big enough to accommodate them all as it stands.
These owners are just effectively buying a lottery ticket..
..of giant proportions.

This could be the next league for @ASFCofficial which is why I tweeted ‘the trap’

I wouldn’t blow £m’s year in year out on football even if I had the cash. At the very top you’re up against Nation States.

It’s a mugs game.
So, when I tweeted ‘the trap’ the overwhelming response was ‘don’t risk our club chasing dreams’ which surprised me because I had assumed the opposite would be the case (I don’t know why!)

In business you try to build a resilience to unforeseen shocks. Otherwise even..
..small changes in market dynamics can send in the administrators.

A lack of downside planning, puts clubs in distress, and can send clubs out of the leagues in an uncontrollable downward spiral.

You only need look @YorkCityFC @Official_HUFC @leytonorientfc the list goes on..
..and on, great community clubs that struggled to survive the rapid fall.

When they do suffer this fate, it’s generally the fans and community enthusiasm that keep the clubs going.

What good is ifollow to those clubs??

What good is @EFL to them??

What good is @premierleague them.

It’s the Jack Barrett’s in the local community, that come to the rescue.
So with my crystal ball, it’s not clear where we will be in 10-20 years time.
The upside is covered off because if we can’t run a profit in that league, whoever is running the club at the time will need shooting.
It the downside we have to spend most of our time on.

In 20 years, many of us may be dust blowing in the wind.

We need our club to be self sufficient even in non league. What’s to stop another 20 or 30 billionaires buying non league clubs and blowing £10’s of millions..
...forcing other well run clubs out of the @EFL ? @SalfordCityFC is the first of many.
#EFL can be trusted not to control this in the same way @FA and @premierleague have allowed football to become just about money and gambling owners.

So we have to build a club that can.. these potential storms.
The strategy is to put in place now some of the tools and assets that will make survival easier for the future Jack Barrett’s in the event of negative shocks.

I’ll detail how, but giving 1200 shirts a year to year 3’s is part of the..
..20 year strategy.
Good morning BTW!!
