Maybe once a week someone either 1) tells me I’m a disgrace as an officer or 2) tells someone *else that I’m a disgrace as an officer over this account. So buckle up boys and girls, I have a thread. 1/
1. If you don’t understand this account is a well crafted caricature based on my personal experiences, I don’t know how to help you. 2/
2. I love the Army. I love soldiers. I love my job. I have made that very, very clear. I never drag my unit or my leadership, because I’m a professional and because I’m part of an incredible team. 3/
3. I know the regulations about social media. I follow them. Next. 4/
4. If you’re offended I talk openly about sex, save your breath. The taboo of women talking about sexual matters is a large part of the shame I felt after my rape. I will continue to talk about sex and consent and assault because these are conversations we need to be having. 5/
5. If you’re offended that I talk openly about being bi, I don’t care. It’s cathartic for me (because I was raised in a very conservative family), and I think being open about it can help others. 6/
6. If you’re offended I talk about drinking, you’re out of touch with soldiers. I assure you, it has never affected my work. 7/
7. If you’re offended I talk about mental health and therapy, why? Dozens of people have reached out to me via DM about those tweets. “I’m so glad it’s not just me” and “how did you get the help you needed” are life-changing conversations. 8/
8. If you think my jokes are inappropriate, I’m sorry? But that’s not a crime. I also do stand up. I like humor. Humor is good for the soul, and I try to put some light out wherever I go. 9/
9. I don’t use my name on this account because people are scary. I’m also not thrilled about the idea of people I work with indiscriminately knowing my history of abuse. If you don’t understand why I’m concerned about that, I’ll happily explain. 10/
10. Everything I’ve said on this account is something I have said or would say in real life. I’m remarkably honest. 11/
11. Just because YOU don’t know who I am doesn’t mean no one does. Some people in my chain of command know I run this account. Let them worry about it. 12/
12. In no way does anything in my personal life contradict the army values. I’m allowed to have a personality. It’s a dumb argument, and I’m done having it. 13/
13. I am a reasonable person. If you have an issue with me, my DMs are open. 14/
In sum, I’m clearly garbage. 15/15
oh she snapped, damn sis
