But they were having trouble, because they were getting glitches and errors on USB cables over 40 feet. they'd tried 60 feet.
So even on the generous side, they were out of spec by TWENTY FOUR FUCKING FEET
This person tried them, and they didn't help. Presumably the devices are not happy with the latency of having to go through 4 extenders
1. Just use modern h264 cameras, then have some software running that transcodes it to MJPEG for the old software
2. Stick a small computer (raspi?) at each USB camera, make them serve MJPEG
