Bill Barr reportedly is the front-runner to be the next AG. He recently said Jeff Sessions was "an outstanding Attorney General," particularly praising Sessions's abandonment of civil rights enforcement in policing and harsh immigration crackdowns.…
If you liked Sessions's vapid fixation on tough-on-crime rhetoric and policies, you'll love Barr.
If you liked Sessions's attacks on immigrants, you'll love Barr.
If, like Sessions, you think the Civil Rights Division is best deployed to protect the rights of oppressed Christians, you'll love Barr.
If, like Sessions, you think it was a great injustice that the Obama DOJ recognized the rights of transgender people and sought to negotiate practical solutions to civil rights problems through consent decrees, you'll really love Barr.
Bill Barr last ran the DOJ in 1993. His views, like Sessions's, appear to be frozen in that time even as a bipartisan consensus has overtaken them in so many areas. If you prefer an Attorney General who is interested in moving the country forward, he is not your man.

More from @AmesCG about how Bill Barr is one of the few plausible candidates for AG who is, if anything, even worse than Sessions on criminal justice reform.
But why would he support change? Bill Barr said in 1992 that our criminal justice system is fair for all. I'm sure he would say the same thing today.…
