stop making "good communication skills" a liability for eng hiring!
years of engineering experience, but "gosh you're so organized, why don't you try a project manager role?" fuuuuuck you!
you're doing a disservice to your company by expecting engineering candidates NOT to have these skills
which means they are also more likely to be shunted into support and PM roles when they wanted engineering ones
but then, a Big Co wants to talk to you! about engineering!
just kidding, can you be in support? you're so good with words!
talk about a fucking gut punch
maybe you shouldn't be an engineer. maybe you should take this support role. maybe that's the best you can be.
But they are also devalued in the tech industry and when a recruiter tries to send you there off an engineering position, that is a signal.
but also because she has years of dealing with bullshit like this and she knows when she's being taken for granted
we cannot, and should not, expect the same for less-experienced workers
what a sad and also accurate lesson
