On Kamal Nath's role in 1984 riots, these are some facts I am aware of (I don't still claim to be certain that Kamal Nath was involved or not and I wonder how people with limited information are so certain)
1. Kamal Nath was present at the Rakabganj gurdwara for some time
2. Rakabganj gurdwara was under seige by mobs and was attacked over a 4 hour period and Kamal Nath was not there throughout, nor when it started or when it ended.
3. On reaching the Gurudwara area, the first thing Kamal Nath did was to establish contact with the police there.
4. There was no case in India against Kamal Nath at all. All focus was on Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar who in my opinion must be hanged and so should Modi given his clear role in 2002 riots. And Modi is PM. RT if you agree with me, that punishment for rioting should be death.
5. Kamal Nath's name never came up immediately after riots. It was always Tytler and Sajjan Kumar all the way. Kamal Nath's name surfaced decades later to politicise Punjab assembly elections when he was appointed General Secretary and in charge of poll bound Punjab & Haryana!
6. Kamal Nath resigned from responsibilities when his name came up so that BJP and Akali Dal do not succeed in diverting the issue from drug problem in Punjab in the Badals are known to be kingpins.
In fact Capt Amrinder Singh said it was very gracious of Kamal Nath to resign.
7. Captain Amrinder Singh also said that had Kamal Nath continued there was no problem at all! And Captain Amrinder Singh is a man who quit Congress on Operation Bluestar. And Captain Amrinder Singh had no problem with Kamal Nath being in charge of Punjab.
8. Many Congress leaders have cleared Kamal Nath of 1984. Media is extremely fond of talking about bitter rivalry in MP between Kamal Nath, Digvijay Singh and Scindia. Even Digvijay Singh has clearly said more than once that Kamal Nath had no role in 1984.
9. Worth noting that Congress leaders who have spoken in favor of Kamal Nath have not done so for Tytler, Sajjan Kumar.

So who's against Kamal Nath

10. HS Phoolka of AAP has been suddenly bandying Kamal Nath's name because of AAP's political interest in Delhi, Punjab.
11. Out of the blue, years later in 2011, a case against Kamal Nath was filed in a US federal court (!) by an organization called SFJ (Sikhs For Justice) and the court reserved the order against Kamal Nath. The US Court had no jurisdiction!
12. Still SFJ wanted him to be prosecuted under Human Rights Enforcement Act 2009. Such weak cases are being conjured against Kamal Nath years after 1984. It's easy to see through the political motive behind this.
Cases against Kamal Nath are being conjured after 30 yrs.
13. The biggest thing that goes in favor of Kamal Nath is that the Nanavati Commission investigating 1984 went into Kamal Nath's case in detail and absolvedn him completely, saying that he did not instigate the crowds at all.
14. This Nanavati Commission, which cleared Kamal Nath held that it appeared HKL Bhagat, Sajjan Kumar and Tytler were involved. The Nanavati Commission reports was gleefully hailed by the BJP then.
But in the run up to Punjab polls both BJP and AAP threw Kamal Nath's name around.
15. Kamal Nath's name has come up ages later at politically opportune times by vested political interests who are trying to befool Sikh voters. These include AAP (saddens me to see what this party has become), Akali Dal and BJP.
16. In my view, on such flimsy grounds you cannot deny Kamal Nath the CMship of MP. BJP is obviously doing it to spoil it for the Congress in MP.
17. In fact if Kamal Nath cannot be CM on such flimsy grounds, then Modi has no business to be PM when his involvement in 2002 is part of history, lore and legend.
See interviews of Kamal Nath and you will see a thorough gentlemen and then compare him with Modi.
It is laughable.
