#clarity2018 Folks are asking about the playlist. Thread…
#clarity2018 So Day 0 (Workshop day) it was whatever the hotel was playing. But during that evening was my Clarity playlist (more on this playlist later in the thread).
On Day 1, there was 80s music playing in the Theatre. I know folks liked it. I liked it too. But it was not MY playlist. (You were right, @3fn)
However, on Day 2, we were able to log into a second account so that my playlist could play in both lobby and theatre. (They run on separate systems). And then at the party, that was my playlist, too. :)
ANYWAY: My friend Michael Yuan and I created the first year’s (2016), which was a great mix of his tastes and mine. Witch house, electronic, dubstep, goth, shoegaze, synth pop, etc.
But then over the course of the year, in preparation for 2017’s event, I modified it over time, and Michael’s songs were removed gradually. It’s not that I didn’t like his music. I was just going for a certain feel — a feeling that was me.
So 50 songs became 100 songs for 2017.
And then over the course of another year for 2018, I began to mix it up a little. Adding in a little bit of gothy tunes, keeping the witch house and synth pop, but going for my mood. So 100 songs are now about 150.
I figure I'll keep doing this every year. I have to admit, there is some really weird stuff in there, with really weird titles. But it’s *me*.
And I realize the irony of having a gothy, moody playlist at a conference that's all love, happiness, and empathy.
My friends call me a cheerful goth. So… yeah. Anyway, here's my playlist that has been worked on for 3 years. And now I’ll start modifying it to have 200 songs for next year. Keeping adding and modifying. :) Iteration.
