Let’s talk about how Brexit and Trump are the same Russian op in a different country.
/ First, understand that what Vladimir Putin wants to do is undermine the West. He wants to sow chaos and discord, destroy our alliances, and weaken us from within. That’s his prime directive in this war. And yes, this is a war he’s fighting against us.
/ The EU w/ British participation is a huge threat to Russia. An economic powerhouse on its Western front, w/ some of the best military forces on earth & with nuclear weapons, absolutely checks Putin's territorial ambitions, which are to REGAIN territory lost by breakup of USSR.
/ So: Brexit. Whatever the reasons for Leave or Remain, there’s no question that the former is what Putin wanted. And he did everything in his power to achieve that result.
/ Cambridge Analytica, a company that weaponizes data to make it do whatever the highest bidder desires—glorified hacker mercenaries, basically—was used by Leave. It was also used by Trump. (I call it #CamAnal for short).
/ Involved with #CamAnal: Steve Bannon, the Mercers, Brad Parscale, Mark Zuck & FB, Jared Kushner…and in the UK, Nigel Farage.

Also involved: Julian Assange and Wikileaks, which is a cut-out of the FSB.
/ With Brexit, the Russians identified a key wedge issue and stoked fear in TARGETED citizens to get the desired result. Immigrants are criminals coming to take our jobs, etc. #CamAnal helped them reach the appropriate audience.
/ Brexit found a charming, famous white man with no moral compass who would play ball and serve as the homeland face of the operation. Whether or not he realized it, Nigel Farage was Putin’s front man. Farage spun lie after lie to make his case. Sound familiar?
/ As the truth comes out concerning Russian meddling, sensible Britons understandably perceive the vote as being contaminated, and thus invalid. For some reason—and the reason smells like borscht and vodka and Putin’s aftershave—the general public has been slow to grasp this.
/ Great Britain does not have Robert Mueller, alas…although the OSC may well take down Assange and Farage in its investigation. Great Britain has basically @carolecadwalla shouting from the rooftops like a modern-day Cassandra.
/ To be clear: Britons had non-Russian reasons for voting Leave, just as Americans had non-Russian reasons for voting for Trump. My uncle, for example, sincerely (and naively) believed Trump would “drain the swamp.”
/ The problem is, the election results in both cases were contaminated by the Russians, working through cut-outs like Wikileaks and #CamAnal. This makes those results illegitimate. In December 2018, this seems to me obvious to anyone with wi-fi and an objective mind.
/ In both Great Britain and the US, righting this wrong is a difficult process. That doesn’t mean we should stop trying to do so. In this Manichean battle, we have the law, and the forces of good, on our side. They have two grinning BS artists in bad ties.
Happily, the truth is coming out. We are winning. Putin and his minions are losing. WE SHALL PREVAIL.
