Why won’t I “debate” every Tom, Dick & Harry (especially the Dick) who demands “evidence” of antisemitism? A quick thread:
1) if I saw someone had experienced racism & I wanted to understand, I would look it up myself. The information is easy to find. I would not contribute to the exhaustion of someone on the receiving end of racism by demanding they educate me. The very question indicates bad faith.
2) in the past, when I have engaged, I have provided countless examples only to then be told those are not examples of racism or not indicative of a problem on the left, or are just a few bad apples. These people know the score. They want an argument, not to understand & support.
3) I am a person. I’m not a public information service. My time is valuable. I have clients to deliver work for. It is an insidious form of racism in itself to derail Jews’ days demanding information you can find yourself just so you can shout it down. I don’t owe you anything.
4) a true anti-racist would already understand all of the above points. Their instinct would be to see what they can do to help, not aggressively demand evidence they can discredit. Nobody who’s “just curious” would ask the question & I am under no obligation to entertain it.
5) expressing an opinion is not an invitation for everyone to “debate” me. I wrote a thread telling racists to fuck off. I didn’t invite them in for a cuppa & a chat. I’ve made very clear what you can do with your whataboutery & disingenuous “questions”. In. The. Bin.
