It is infuriating that @ggreenwald is talking about this as if he is reluctantly taking Carlson's side to help others, when in fact he regularly collaborates w/ Carlson on multiple platforms and treats him as a friend and colleague.
Greenwald is telling people not to boycott Carlson because he sees Carlson as an ally and friend, not because Greenwald is somehow taking the high road in order to protect marginalized people.
Here is Glenn Greenwald explicitly helping Tucker Carlson advance his fascist agenda on immigration. this is repulsive.
"we're all tribal by nature". he's helping Carlson make the point that it's natural to hate immigrants. This is an explicit bid for red/brown crossover on the basis of shared opposition to immigrants—immigrants who are *being held in fucking concentration camps right now!*
remember that Greenwald has been defending fascist immigration policy for more than a decade.
Greenwald claimed to have recanted his defense of Tom Tancredo in 2005, but here he is in 2018 making the exact same points in order to find common ground with Tucker Carlson.
Here he says that Tucker's hate mongering against the Roma is legitimate.
Tucker's argument is, "I don't hate the Roma, but the really oppressed people are white rural people, and you've just got to oppose letting the Roma move in and take their jobs!"
It's white nationalism. It's the assertion that the existence of the Roma is a threat to white people, and that the Roma therefore need to be removed.

And Glenn's response is, "well that's legitimate."
I'm sure Glenn would say, "this is odious, your implications!" but come the fuck on. It's all about how Tucker is reasonable and not at all racist and just a humble seeker. It's disgusting.
like, debating fascists by asking them politely if maybe their coverage is somewhat slanted is not acceptable. asking Tucker Carlson if maybe he needs to be more careful since people have such a visceral hatred of immigrants is not opposing fascism.
like, "should we treat the Roma as an existential threat to the republic and agitate for ethnically cleansing them or not" is not a fucking thing you debate on a fucking left podcast what the fuck
Greenwald is all innocent, "gee, why would you single out the Roma? Are you pandering to a Fox audience."

He's pandering to literal Nazis, Glenn. That's the people who love bigoted content about the Roma. And you help him cover that up.
Tucker spews out vicious, disgusting, openly racist anti Roma propaganda; Greenwald doesn't take even a moment to question its accuracy, or call him out for being a racist shit. It's just like, "well, sure, the Roma are disgusting, but surely there weren't that many of them!"
Liberal corporate rag Newsweek managed to fact check Carlson and rebut his hate. Not Glenn Greenwald, radical leftist, though. newsweek.com/tucker-carlson…
and this is in fact that crux of Carlson's evil. It isn't that he has different opinions, which you can debate rationally. It's that he *deliberately lies all the time to stir up hate.*
He lies in the convo with Glenn to stir up hate, while pretending to be all friendly and even handed.
and Glenn does nothing to challenge him, because (a) he agrees with Carlson, (b) he is too dumb and ineffectual to challenge Carlson, (c) both.
