LRT, I know from personal experience that laptop grants for public school systems almost always end up being huge wastes of money that don't improve students' lives in any meaningful way
laptops are just tools and don't mean anything without the digital curriculum elements to justify their use. those cost big money that the public school systems who get these grants don't often have. so, they end up being trotted out to justify their existence, and not much else.
also, the hardware ages quickly, breaks quickly, etc. it's just a stupid idea. peak techno-neoliberalism.
