Ayn Rand was a radical feminist. Her female characters were fiercely independent, individualistic, flawed & strong- just like male characters get to be.
I read Fountainhead when I was around 16-17, living in the Bhopal of 90s... There is a scene where Rand describes Dominuque Francon driving her car. Nothings happening in that scene- she's just had a shit day & is driving back home.
But, to the 16 yo me, who was fighting to get access to my dad's car- it validated something no one else around me would.
